How to Make the Banana Tree Run AI Video (Running on Banana Leaves)
How to make the banana tree run AI video: the viral clip of a man sprinting across banana leaves, the shots, and how to make yours from one photo or pet.

The banana tree run is the AI video where somebody sprints straight across the tops of a banana plantation — not between the trees, on them — leaping from one giant leaf to the next as if it were solid ground, while the camera keeps pace from the side and nobody seems to find any of this unusual. It started with one clip on TikTok in October 2026 and turned into a wave of CapCut template tutorials within a day. This guide covers where it comes from, why it works, what happens shot by shot, and how to make your own 10-second version from a single photo of you or your pet.
Every clip in this post was made with the Banana Tree Run AI generator on Viberot.

Where the banana tree run comes from#
The original clip. On 15 October 2026, the TikTok account @big.e.ug posted an 11-second AI video: a hillside banana plantation in the style of rural Uganda, red-earth paths, bright sun, and a man in a football shirt and jeans running along the top of the canopy. He jumps from tree to tree in one continuous side-tracking shot with no cuts, and every step lands like he is on a pavement. It reached about 1.8 million views and 157,000 likes.
The tutorials. From 16 October, CapCut template tutorials took over — dozens of them in English, French and Spanish. One French tutorial alone passed 746,000 views. People search for it under several names: "banana tree run", "running on banana trees", "AI running on banana leaf", and in French "marcher sur des feuilles de bananier".
It has happened before. In April 2026 an Indonesian version called "naik daun" — jumping on leaves — went viral too, with around 2 million views. The idea keeps coming back because it works.
Why it works#
- It is physically impossible, and played completely straight. A banana leaf would fold under a cat. Here it holds a grown man at full sprint, and his face never changes.
- One long shot. There are no cuts to hide anything, so it looks like real footage of something that cannot be real.
- The setting is specific. Real-looking East African farmland, red soil and morning sun make it feel like a home video rather than a fantasy scene.
- Anyone can be the runner. The template only needs a photo, so it quickly turned into dads, friends and dogs doing the run.
The run, shot by shot#
The Viberot version follows the original over 10 seconds, in one continuous side-tracking shot:
- 0–3 s: the sprint. The runner dashes along the top of the leaves and the camera tracks alongside at the same speed.
- 3–5 s: the first big jump. A long stride from one banana tree across the gap to the next.
- 5–8 s: bouncing through the canopy. More quick steps from leaf to leaf; each leaf bends under the foot and springs back, and the camera pushes in slightly.
- 8–10 s: the long jump. One more leap over a red-earth path below, a clean landing, and the run keeps going — with a completely serious face.
The sound is generated with the clip: an East African Afrobeat-style instrumental with hand drums and guitar, plus rustling leaves, footsteps and birdsong. There are no vocals and no copy of any song from the original posts.

How to make the banana tree run AI video#
- Open the template. Go to the Banana Tree Run AI page and sign in.
- Upload one photo. 1 clear photo of one person or one pet — a dog or a cat both work.
- Pick format and quality. 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, or 16:9 for YouTube. Standard 720p is the default; 480p is cheaper for a first try.
- Generate. It usually takes a few minutes.
- Download and post. You get a 10-second MP4 with the music and sound effects already on it.
Tip
You run in the clothes from your photo. The more out of place the outfit is on a farm — a suit, a party dress, a work uniform — the funnier the run.
Picking a photo that works#
| Works well | Causes trouble |
|---|---|
| One person or one pet, clearly visible | Group photos where the subject is small |
| Full body, so the outfit carries into the video | Tight face-only selfies |
| Even light, sharp focus | Very dark, blurry or heavily filtered photos |
| A distinctive outfit or a pet with clear markings | Several animals or people in the frame |
Note
Photos that appear to show public figures are rejected before any credits are charged. Use photos of yourself, your pet, or people who agreed to be in your video.
Ideas for your post#
- "How I get to work." Your office photo, sprinting across the plantation in a shirt and tie.
- The dog. Your dog clearing banana trees like it does this every morning. Caption: "He's been training."
- The family run. One video for each family member, posted back to back.
- The stitch. Post yours under the original or under a tutorial: "Did it without CapCut."
Banana tree run AI vs. the CapCut template#
The CapCut versions are fixed templates: you need the app, the right template link from a tutorial video, and you get that template's runner, framing and sound. The Banana Tree Run AI generator makes a new video from any photo — including your dog or cat — in either 9:16 or 16:9, with you running in your own clothes and generated music on top. It runs in the browser: no app, no template link and no CapCut watermark.
How much it costs#
A Standard 720p banana tree run video costs 167 credits; 480p costs 81. Higher tiers cost more, and the exact price is always shown next to the Generate button before you start. Credit packs are one-time payments — no subscription — start at $9.90 for 600 credits and never expire. If a generation fails, the credits go straight back to your balance. See the pricing page for details.
