The Tesla Roadster AI video starts in a traffic jam: a white supercar is boxed in between yellow taxis in a big city, the driver — you, or your cat — scrolls a phone, sighs, and presses one button. The car lifts straight out of the gridlock, shoots up between the skyscrapers, does a full flip, and the coffee goes everywhere. There is a second version too: a night-time police stop filmed on a bodycam, where the driver stares into the lens without a word and then blasts off in a cloud of white vapour. This guide covers where the joke comes from, both clips shot by shot, and how to put yourself or your pet behind the wheel with the Tesla Roadster AI generator on Viberot, from a single photo.

Where the trend comes from#

In October 2026 Tesla showed off its new-generation Roadster, and the part everyone talked about was the "SpaceX package": cold gas thrusters that, in the demo, actually lifted the car off a ramp. The footage looked so unreal that a lot of people assumed it was an AI video.

That reaction is the whole joke. If a real car flying off a ramp already looks like AI, then an AI video of you flying off in one is only a small step further. The obvious fantasy is the one every commuter has had: you're stuck in traffic, you press a button, and you simply go up. The other format that stuck is the traffic stop — an officer pulls over a white two-door supercar, and instead of handing over a licence, the driver just leaves, straight up.

Why it took off#

  • Everyone has been stuck in traffic. The gridlock escape is instantly relatable — the one button you wish your own car had.
  • The chaos is the punchline. The lift-off is smooth for a second, then the car flips and the driver gets thrown around the cabin with coffee flying. It works on people and it works even better on pets.
  • It's a meme about the news. The real Roadster demo was the "is this AI?" moment. Posting an AI version plays along with that.
  • The police version adds a deadpan twist. Shaky night-time bodycam footage reads as "real", and the driver's blank stare before take-off makes it funnier.
  • One photo is enough. No friend to recruit, no driving, no car. Just one face for the driver's seat.

Two styles to choose from#

The generator has a Style option with two versions of the getaway. Both use the same single photo and the same white Roadster-style supercar:

Traffic jam (default) Police stop
Length 10 seconds 12 seconds
Setting Daytime city, gridlocked taxis Night street, police bodycam
The joke Bored in traffic, one button, then lift-off and chaos Dead-pan stare at the cop, then lift-off
Sound AI sound effects, no dialogue, no music Real street ambience + the officer's line, no music
Shot natively in Landscape 16:9 Vertical 9:16

Both styles can be exported in either 16:9 or 9:16.

The traffic jam version, shot by shot#

The Traffic jam style is a 10-second daytime scene in a big city, shot in landscape:

  1. The gridlock. An aerial shot over a street packed with yellow taxis, the white supercar boxed in right in the middle.
  2. The boredom. Inside the car your subject — a person or a pet — scrolls a phone, a cup of coffee sitting in the cup holder.
  3. The button. A sigh, then a press of one button on the centre console.
  4. The lift-off. White vapour blasts out from under the car and it rises straight up, out of the traffic.
  5. The flight. From street level looking up, the car shoots between the skyscrapers into a blue sky — and does a full flip.
  6. The cabin chaos. Back inside, the driver gets thrown around, screaming and laughing, while the coffee flies out of the cup holder and lands all over them.

Lift-off: the jets fire and the taxis stay behind

Sound: AI-generated sound effects — honking traffic, the click of the button, the roar of the thrusters, rushing wind and screaming. No music and no dialogue.

The police stop version, shot by shot#

The Police stop style is a 12-second night scene, filmed as if from a police officer's body camera, handheld and shaky the whole way through:

  1. The approach. The officer walks up to a white two-door supercar parked at the kerb, red and blue police lights washing over it.
  2. The knock. A black-gloved hand knocks on the driver's window.
  3. The reveal. Inside is your subject — a person or a pet — hands (or paws) on the steering wheel. They slowly turn their head and stare straight into the camera, expressionless.
  4. The turn back. They face forward again and tighten their grip on the wheel.
  5. The launch. Thrusters fire a huge cloud of white vapour that swallows the camera, and the car shoots off.
  6. The empty street. The vapour clears. Only the police lights are left, and far away the white car is flying up into the night sky.

Police stop: the driver turns, looks at the officer, and says nothing

Sound: the clip carries its own on-scene audio — night street ambience and the officer asking "Do you know how fast you were going?" twice. There is no music.

How to make your Tesla Roadster AI video, step by step#

  1. Open the template. Go to the Tesla Roadster AI page and sign in.
  2. Upload the driver. 1 photo — one person or one pet, facing the camera.
  3. Choose a style. Traffic jam (the default) for the daytime escape over the city, or Police stop for the night-time bodycam getaway.
  4. Pick a format. 16:9 for YouTube, or 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts — both styles support both.
  5. Pick a quality. Standard 720p is the default; 480p is cheaper for a first try. The exact credit cost is shown next to the Generate button before you start.
  6. Generate. It usually takes a few minutes.
  7. Download. Traffic jam gives you a 10-second MP4 with AI sound effects — horns, the button click, the thrusters, wind and screaming. Police stop gives you a 12-second MP4 with the traffic-stop audio built in: street ambience and the officer asking "Do you know how fast you were going?" Neither has music, so add a track from the TikTok or Instagram sound library if you want one.

Tip

The driver keeps their own face and their own clothes from your photo. If you want a specific look — a suit, a hoodie, a costume — wear it in the photo you upload.

Choosing the right photo#

The driver's face is on screen for the cabin chaos in Traffic jam and for the stare in Police stop, so the photo matters more than anything else.

Works well Causes trouble
One person or one pet, facing the camera Group photos, or a face that's tiny in the frame
Waist-up or head-and-shoulders, eyes visible Sunglasses, masks, a hand over the face
Even light and a sharp focus Dark, grainy or blurry photos
Pets sitting upright, looking at the lens Pets curled up asleep or half under a blanket
A neutral or deadpan expression Big laughs — the Police stop joke is the blank stare
  • Pets are the stars here. White cats and schnauzers come out especially well: a calm animal face gripping a steering wheel is exactly the energy this trend needs.
  • Outfits add a second joke. A suit and a wig, a costume, or a dog in a red sweater make the cabin chaos — and the deadpan stare — even funnier.
  • Don't worry about the background. The template puts your subject in the car and relights them — for daylight in the city, or for the police lights at night.

Note

Photos of celebrities and other public figures are rejected before any credits are charged. Use photos of yourself, your pets, or people who agreed to be in your video. Only photos are accepted — you can't upload your own video.

Ideas for your post#

  • The commute escape. Use the Traffic jam style in your work clothes, captioned with your Monday 8 am feeling — or your Friday 5 pm one.
  • Your pet's getaway. "My cat when I say the word vet." Pets in the driver's seat are the most shared version of this trend.
  • Play along with the news. "They said the Roadster flies. Here's mine." Leaning into the "is it AI?" debate is half the fun.
  • "When the cop asks for my licence." The classic Police stop caption. The stare does the rest.
  • Let the cop line land. The Police stop clip already has the officer asking "Do you know how fast you were going?" — keep it audible, and if you add music, pick something that drops right as the vapour hits.
  • Post both styles. Same photo, two getaways — post the traffic jam one day and the police stop the next. 16:9 for YouTube or the group chat, 9:16 for TikTok and Reels.

Tesla Roadster AI vs. CapCut templates#

Most CapCut "flying car" templates take a still photo and paste it onto stock footage, or add zooms and shake to a single frame. Your face sits on top of the clip like a sticker, and nothing in the car actually moves.

The Tesla Roadster AI template generates a new video around your subject: they're in the driver's seat, they press the button and get thrown around the cabin (or turn and stare at the officer), and the car takes off over the traffic while the camera shakes and the vapour blasts out. It's built from your photo, not a face overlay, and it runs in your phone's browser with no app or template link to hunt for.

A quick note on the car#

Viberot is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Tesla, Inc. or SpaceX. It is a meme video: the AI draws a white Roadster-style supercar, which may look like a Tesla or even show a Tesla-style badge — that is part of the joke, not an official product or endorsement.

How much it costs#

It depends on the style. A Standard 720p Traffic jam video (10 seconds) costs 167 credits, or 81 at 480p. A Standard 720p Police stop video (12 seconds) costs 201 credits, or 97 at 480p. Faster and higher-detail tiers cost more, and the format (16:9 or 9:16) does not change the price. The exact price is always shown next to the Generate button before you start. Credit packs are one-time payments — no subscription — start at $9.90 for 600 credits and never expire. If a generation fails, the credits go straight back to your balance. See the pricing page for details.

Frequently asked questions#

What is the Tesla Roadster AI trend?#

It's an AI video where a white supercar stuck in city traffic presses one button and lifts straight out of the jam, flipping between the skyscrapers — or, in the second style, where a police officer pulls the car over at night, the driver stares into the bodycam, and the car blasts off and flies away. It plays on the October 2026 Roadster demo, where the real car lifted off a ramp and people thought the footage was AI.

What styles can I choose?#

Two. Traffic jam (the default) is a 10-second daytime clip where the driver, stuck between taxis, presses a button and the car flies up between the skyscrapers, flips, and sends the coffee everywhere. Police stop is the 12-second night-time bodycam traffic stop that ends in a lift-off.

How many photos do I need?#

  1. One photo of one person or one pet, facing the camera.

Can I use my pet?#

Yes. Cats and dogs work very well — they sit in the driver's seat with their paws on the wheel and keep their own fur colour and markings.

Will I look like myself?#

Yes. The driver keeps the face and the clothes from your photo.

Does the video have sound?#

Yes, and it depends on the style. Traffic jam has AI sound effects — horns, the button click, the thrusters, wind and screaming — with no dialogue. Police stop comes with the traffic-stop audio — street ambience and the officer asking "Do you know how fast you were going?" Neither has music, so you can add a track from the TikTok or Instagram sound library when you post.

How long is the video, and which formats are supported?#

Traffic jam is 10 seconds and Police stop is 12 seconds. Both come in horizontal 16:9 or vertical 9:16.

How much does it cost?#

81–201 credits for the Standard tier, depending on style and resolution. The exact price is shown before you generate, and failed videos are refunded.

Can I put a celebrity in the car?#

No. Photos of public figures are rejected before you're charged.

Is this an official Tesla product?#

No. It is a meme video generator. Viberot is an independent AI tool with no connection to Tesla, Inc. or SpaceX; the car may look like a Tesla, but that is just part of the joke.
