How to Make the Coldplay Affair AI Video: Put You and a Friend on the Kiss Cam
How to make the Coldplay affair kiss cam meme with AI: where it comes from, the clip shot by shot, and how two photos put you on the jumbotron.

The Coldplay affair clip is the kiss cam moment everyone has seen: a couple swaying in the stands shows up on the giant stadium screen, one of them drops out of sight behind the railing, the other spins around and hides their face, and the whole stadium laughs. It turned into one of the most copied memes of the decade, and people are still remaking it. This guide covers where it comes from, why it works so well, what happens in the clip, and how to put you and anyone you like on that screen, from two photos, with the AI Coldplay Affair template on Viberot.

Where the Coldplay affair meme comes from#
The concert. In July 2025, Coldplay played Gillette Stadium near Boston on their Music of the Spheres tour. Between songs, the "kiss cam" (also called the jumbotron cam) panned the crowd and put audience members on the giant round screen above the stage.
The moment. It landed on a couple hugging and swaying in the stands. The second they saw themselves on the screen, they split: one dropped down behind the railing, the other turned around and covered their face with both hands. From the stage, Chris Martin joked, "Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy."
The meme. A fan's phone video of that moment went everywhere within a day. People started recreating it with friends, coworkers, siblings and pets, brands joined in, and the Coldplay kiss cam meme turned into a CapCut kiss cam template that is still everywhere. More than a year later the format is still being reshot, because the setup works for almost any pair.
Why it blew up#
- The reaction is instant and readable. Nobody needs context: two people get caught on camera and panic in two different directions.
- The line. Chris Martin's one-liner turned an awkward second into a punchline the whole internet could quote.
- It works for any pair. Couples, best friends, a boss and an employee, a cat and a dog. The joke is the reaction, not who the people are.
- It's a template, not a dance. There's no choreography to learn, just a hug, a duck and a face covered by two hands.
The clip, shot by shot#
The AI Coldplay Affair template generates a 10-second Coldplay kiss cam AI clip that looks like it was filmed on a phone from the stands, pointed at the huge round screen:
- 0–2 s: the sway. On the jumbotron, the person from photo 2 hugs the person from photo 1 from behind, and they sway to the music, unaware.
- 2–3 s: caught. They notice they're on the big screen. Photo 2 instantly ducks down behind the railing; photo 1 spins around and covers their face with both hands.
- 3–10 s: the hiding. Photo 1 stays turned away from the camera, face in hands, while the crowd in the front rows laughs and points.
- Around 7 s: the peek. Photo 1 glances back over a shoulder for a split second, sees they're still on screen, and hides again.
How to make the Coldplay affair video, step by step#
- Open the template. Go to the AI Coldplay Affair page and sign in.
- Upload photo 1. The person in front, the one who turns around and covers their face.
- Upload photo 2. The person behind, the one doing the hug and then ducking out of sight. Both photos are required: 2 photos in total.
- Pick a format. Vertical 9:16 (the default) for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, or 16:9 for YouTube and X.
- Pick a quality. Standard 720p is the default; 480p is cheaper for a first try, and Pro goes up to 1080p. The exact credit cost is shown next to the Generate button before you start.
- Generate. It usually takes a few minutes.
- Download and post. You get a 10-second MP4 with the live stadium audio from the original clip already on it (see below).
Tip
Decide who ducks before you upload. Photo 1 stays visible for the whole clip and does the face-cover and the peek; photo 2 is on screen for the hug and then disappears behind the railing. Put the person you want to "expose" in photo 1.
Choosing the right photos#
You appear on a stadium screen filmed by a phone, so faces are small. Clear, simple photos give the best likeness.
| Works well | Causes trouble |
|---|---|
| One person per photo, facing the camera | Group photos, or a face that's tiny in the frame |
| Half-body or full-body, face clearly visible | Sunglasses, masks, a hand over the face |
| Even light and sharp focus | Dark, grainy or blurry photos |
| Clothes you'd wear to a concert | Very busy patterns that blur on a big screen |
- You keep your own clothes. Each person wears the outfit from their photo, so a hoodie stays a hoodie and a suit stays a suit.
- Any pair works. Partners, best friends, coworkers, siblings, or a pet and its owner.
- Pets work too. A cat and a dog get caught on the kiss cam just like people: one ducks, the other turns away and hides behind its paws.
- Don't worry about the background. The template puts both of you in the stadium stands under the concert lights.
Note
Photos of celebrities and other public figures are rejected before any credits are charged. And since the whole joke is "you got caught", ask your friend before you post a video that implies they were having an affair. Only photos are accepted — you can't upload your own video.

Post ideas#
- The office version. You and a coworker, captioned "when the team offsite goes too well".
- The best-friend version. "Us when someone asks who ate the last slice."
- The pet version. Cat and dog on the kiss cam, captioned "they said they were just roommates".
- The couple version. Use it as a soft launch, or as the ultimate "we're very shy" announcement.
- The reply. Stitch or reply to your friend's version with yours, and let the comments decide who hid better.
The audio is already on your video#
Your video comes with the live stadium audio from the original clip — crowd noise, the music and the reaction — added after generation, not created by the AI. So the timing lands and you can post it as is. Having the audio in the file doesn't mean the music is licensed to you: if you want to use the video commercially or in ads, check the rights yourself. If TikTok or Instagram Reels flags the audio when you post, mute the original sound and add an official track from the app's sound picker instead.
Viberot is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Coldplay, its members, its label or tour, or the people in the original clip, and nobody from the original video appears in yours.
AI Coldplay Affair vs. the CapCut and Jianying templates#
The Coldplay kiss cam templates on CapCut and Jianying mostly stick your photo or a face sticker over the original footage, or cut your clip in next to it. The people in the stands are still the original couple, and the face often slides around when they move.
The AI Coldplay Affair template generates a new video. Both of you are on the jumbotron, in your own clothes, doing the hug, the duck, the face-cover and the peek, and nobody from the original clip is in it. It's built from your photos rather than a face-swap overlay, and it runs in your phone's browser, with no app or template link to hunt for.
How much it costs#
A Standard 720p video costs 151 credits; 480p costs 73, and Pro 1080p costs 1864. The format (9:16 or 16:9) does not change the price, and the exact price is always shown next to the Generate button before you start. Credit packs are one-time payments — no subscription — start at $9.90 for 600 credits and never expire. If a generation fails, the credits go straight back to your balance. See the pricing page for details.
Frequently asked questions#
What is the Coldplay affair meme?#
It comes from a July 2025 Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium, where the kiss cam caught a couple hugging in the stands. One ducked behind the railing and the other turned away and hid their face, and Chris Martin joked that they were either having an affair or just very shy. The clip went viral and became a meme and a template people still remake.
How many photos do I need?#
2, and both are required. Photo 1 is the person in front who turns around and covers their face; photo 2 is the person behind who does the hug and then ducks.
Can I use friends, coworkers or pets instead of a couple?#
Yes. Any two people work, and so do pets: a cat and a dog play it just like people do.
Will we look like ourselves?#
Yes. Each person keeps their own face and the clothes from their photo.
Does the video include sound?#
Yes. It comes with the live stadium audio from the original clip, added after generation. That doesn't mean the music is licensed to you, so check the rights before any commercial use, and swap in an official track from TikTok's or Instagram's library if the platform asks when you post.
How long is the video?#
10 seconds, in vertical 9:16 or horizontal 16:9.
Can I make a celebrity version?#
No. Photos of public figures are rejected before you're charged.
Is this official?#
No. Viberot is an independent AI tool with no connection to Coldplay, its label, the tour or the people in the original video.
